Rivers of Northern California

Hot Creek- near Mammoth Lakes

Description: A high-profile catch-and-release fishery with special restrictions like flies and lures with single, barbless hooks. This stream attracts fishing royalty, so us ordinary dunkers might best find a spot more in keeping with our plebian heritage. Access is limited in much of the area due to private property rights.

Location: From Hwy. 395 3 miles south of Mammoth Junction turn east on Hot Creek hatchery Road for about 3 miles to the stream.

Camping: At Mammoth Lakes. Click the link.
