Independence Creek- near Independence

Description: A small fishery stocked with rainbow trout at the campground and upstream from there.

Location: From Hwy. 395 at Independence turn west on Market St. and drive 1 mile to Independence Creek campground or 5 miles to Upper & Lower Gray's Meadow Campgrounds.

Camping: Independence Creek Campground: 25 sites for tents or RV's to 27 feet. Picnic tables, fire grills, drinking water and pit toilets. Some sites with wheelchair access. 3,900 feet. Reservations not accepted. Open year round. Upper & Lower Gray's Meadow Campgrounds: Lower has 52 sites for tents or RV's to 34 feet. Upper has 35 sites. Picnic tables, fire grills, drinking water and flush toilets. 6,200 feet. Reservations accepted at 877-444-6777 or www.recreation.gov. Open late March thru mid-October.
