Plaskett Lakes

Description: Two remote natural lakes close to Letts Lake and East Park Reservoir west of Interstate 5 near Maxwell. See our pages on the other lakes. This destination is for the angler with a need to be off the beaten path. Fishing for rainbow trout; best in the larger lake. Swimming is iffy due to algae build-up.

Location: Take Interstate 5 to Willows, then Hwy. 162 west toward Elk Creek. At County Road 306 turn north 4 miles to Alder Springs Road and drive about 33 miles to the lake. The last 16 miles are unpaved.

Nearest Town: Elk Creek.

Camping: Plaskett Meadows Campground: 32 sites for tents or RV's to 16 feet. Picnic tables, fire grills, drinking water and pit toilets. Reservations not accepted. Open mid-May thru mid-October.

Fishing: Rainbow trout.

Boating: No motors.

Day Hikes in Area: Black Butte Trail.
