Lake Tulloch

Description: The afterbay for New Melones Reservoir, this lake gets its water from there. It is known mainly as a smallmouth bass fishery, with stocked rainbow trout to fill the bill. Just above sea level at 510 feet it has about 55 miles of shoreline.

Location: Near Copperopolis. From Modesto/Manteca take Hwy. 120 east toward Oakdale (it becomes Hwys. 120/108). Drive about 13 miles farther to Tulloch Road and go about 4 miles to the south shore and Lake Tulloch Marina. For the north shore continue on for 10 more miles to O'Byrnes Ferry Road, turn left and drive about 5 miles to the north shore and Lake Tulloch resort.

Nearest Town: Copperopolis.

Fishing: Smallmouth bass and rainbow trout. Also some largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish.

Boating: All. Rentals and marinas.

Other: Swimming beaches, hiking, riding.
