Wassama Roundhouse State Historic Park

Description: This park houses a Miwok tribe ceremonial roundhouse with an adjacent sweathouse and beyond them an area where grinding cups can be seen. The current roundhouse was built in 1985 on the site where earlier versions have stood since at least the 1860's. It is tribe-built and still used so visitors can take a peek but cannot enter or otherwise defile a sacred place. Bass Lake is nearby, a quality destination.
