The Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park

Description: An active Chinese Temple built by Chinese miners in 1874. On display are art objects, pictures, mining tools, and weapons used in the 1854 Tong War. A visitor center/ museum tells of the history of the miners. Self-guided tour. This one is a logical side-trip when in the Lake Shasta/ Whiskeytown area. Attractions in the area include Shasta Lake, Trinity Lake, Whiskeytown Lake and the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Facilities: Visitor enter, the temple, restrooms.

Location: In Weaverville, on Hwy. 299. From the Bay Area drive Int. 5 north to Redding and then west on Hwy. 299 to Weaverville.
