An Explorer's Guide to Northern California

Zmudowski, Moss Landing & Salinas River State Beaches

Description: Adjacent beaches covering a modest 4 mile stretch of coast. Surfing, windsurfing, clamming, surf fishing, hiking and horseback riding predominate. The surf can be dangerous. Moss landing is the most protected and is on the Pacific Flyway. The village/ harbor of Moss Landing offers some quaintness, like many small coastal towns without a major reputation. Seasonal closures are common due to seabird nesting. As a point of reference, Moss Landing is about halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. See our write-up on Highway 1 South for more attractions in this general area.

Facilities: Beach access and pit toilets. These are just beaches.
